Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire

About the role

An established Mechanical and Electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Services Estimator to join its Pre-Construction team based in Cirencester.

The role would suit a commercially aware estimator with strong technical knowledge of building services and experience delivering estimates across a range of commercial projects. You will work closely with senior management and contribute to the successful delivery of competitive and well-considered tenders.

Reporting directly to the Construction Director, key responsibilities will include:

Key responsibilities
  • Reviewing tender documentation including specifications and employer’s requirements
  • Preparing accurate and timely cost estimates covering labour, materials and subcontract packages
  • Producing tenders for internal adjudication
  • Assessing and vetting supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure best value is achieved
  • Attending and leading tender adjudication meetings, presenting programme, pricing strategy and commercial risk
  • Monitoring and reviewing project costs against tender allowances
  • Maintaining and updating in-house costing and estimating software
  • Liaising with main contractors, clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal design and delivery teams

Experience and qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar estimating role within an M&E contractor or main contractor environment
  • Strong understanding of building services pricing, design and delivery
  • Ability to prepare estimates from drawings and specifications as a minimum
  • Experience within commercial, office or warehousing projects would be advantageous
  • Confident in estimating costs and programmes to meet tender deadlines
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and written skills
  • General understanding of other MEP disciplines, BREEAM and sustainability principles
